We are blessed with our numbers of volunteers and so are not able to accept new volunteers to work in the Sanctuary building at the moment. Please do check back with us in a few months if this is a role you are interested in.

Salary: £21,131.00 to £23,024.00 per annum, pro rata

Since 2010 St. Chad’s Sanctuary (registered CIO) has provided welcome, friendship and practical support for asylum seekers and refugees in need.  From our base in central Birmingham, provided by the Salvation Army, we prioritise supporting the most vulnerable and destitute.  We are inspired by the Catholic faith to welcome the stranger and reach out to those of all faiths and none without discrimination. 

Father Hudson’s Care is a project partner and carries out the employment and HR for the project.

Are you passionate, adaptable, nurturing and experienced in the voluntary sector?

St Chad’s Sanctuary is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Volunteer Coordinator to lead, organise and nurture our large team of volunteers. You will have experience of leading teams of staff or volunteers in the charity sector.  You will have an understanding of the experiences of asylum seekers and refugees and will enjoy the challenges and opportunities presented by a busy community setting.  You will be able to manage, motivate and support a large team of volunteers from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds, working effectively both as part of a team and on your own initiative.  You will have a proven track record of recruiting, training and monitoring volunteers and their activities.  You will be an effective communicator with the ability to listen, reflect, adapt and challenge.  You will have a desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives by working with and for them.
