We are blessed with our numbers of volunteers and so are not able to accept new volunteers to work in the Sanctuary building at the moment. Please do check back with us in a few months if this is a role you are interested in. 


We are open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10:30 - 13:30 for food and clothes

Volunteer Coordinator

Since 2010 St. Chad’s Sanctuary (registered CIO) has provided welcome, friendship and practical support for asylum seekers and refugees in need.  From our base in central Birmingham, provided by the Salvation Army, we prioritise supporting the most vulnerable and destitute.  We are inspired by the Catholic faith and reach out to those of all faiths and none without discrimination.  

Father Hudson’s Care is a project partner and carries out the employment and HR for the project.

St Chad’s Sanctuary is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Volunteer Coordinator to lead, organise and nurture our large team of volunteers. You will have experience of working or volunteering in a busy community setting and will have an understanding of the experiences of asylum seekers and refugees. You will be able to manage, lead and support a large team of volunteers from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds, working both as part of a team and on your own initiative. You will be organised and able to multitask. You will be an effective communicator who is committed to our Catholic ethos of welcoming the stranger. You will have the ability to listen, reflect, adapt and challenge. You will have a desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives by walking alongside and working with them.
