Volunteers

The great people at St. Chad's Sanctuary

The Sanctuary needs all sorts of volunteers to help us succeed. We’re pretty sure that no matter what skills or time you have to donate, we can use what you have to offer.

Please have a look at some of the roles we have below. If you don’t think we have anything specific, why not just go for a general role. These are often in greatest need. Remember, The Sanctuary needs you!

SPECIALIST VOLUNTEER VACANCIES

We currently have a vacancy for a volunteer for the following role(s):

We are looking for a Classroom Assistant to support our Beginners’ ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) class. This class is for students with very basic levels of English, many of whom have minimal literacy skills in their own languages. You do not need any formal training or teaching experience for this role. The main requirements are patience, clear diction and pronunciation, and a willingness to be directed by the class tutor. The structure of a session usually involves work done together as a whole class, and also activities where students work alone or in pairs. Your main role will be to help specific students with these individual or pairwork activities, as directed by the class tutor. There will be some parts of the session where you will not be actively involved (albeit monitoring participation), so we need someone who feels comfortable with periods of just sitting and listening attentively. Thursday mornings, 10.15-12.30 (Updated 14.05.19)

There are currently no advertised teaching vacancies. (Updated: 26.04.18)
